Leaves can be made into a poultice to treat boils, cuts, and sprains, or to draw out bug bites. A tea is concocted to help high-blood pressure and urinary problems. Leaves can be eaten, juiced, or concocted as a tea for respiratory problems. Plantain is a highly nutritious wild edible, that is high in calcium and vitamins A, C, and K. The young, tender leaves can be eaten raw, and the older, stringier leaves can be boiled in stews and eaten. The seeds are also edible.
